Alex is a lawyer with 50 years of experience who recently joined Mulvena Winston, PC as Of Counsel. He has dedicated his career to serving older adults and families with special needs children to help secure their future as they confront the complex issues of aging and disability. Alex, served as an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University Law School, teaching elder law for over 20 years and is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation.
Alex serves as the Chairperson of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA), Advisory Committee for 14 years that publishes the annual Elder Law Guide (ELG), distributed state wide to all Councils on Aging (COA) in MA and made available to the public. The ELG is published, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (MassNAELA) with over 30 contributing authors and is a comprehensive guide to all topics related to aging. He also serves as the volunteer legal counsel to the Arlington Council on Aging for several years.
Alex most recently served as Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Arc of MA that distributed statewide grants to agencies providing services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism and their families. He has also served as a trustee lawyer for many families with special needs children as well as older adults in need of trust and fiduciary services.
He is a past president of MassNAELA and served on the Board of Directors of NAELA and is a fellow of both NAELA and the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. He has published articles on a state and national level and has been a presenter for numerous speaking engagements. Alex has also served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Association and the Somerville Elder Services.
Prior to entering private practice, Alex served as both acting executive and assistant director of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) and, while attending laws school evenings, served as a probation officer in Middlesex Superior Court.
A graduate of Villanova University, Alex received his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School. He received the Suffolk Alumni Public Service Award in 2002, and in 2005 earned the Charles P. Kindregan, Jr. Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the Center for Advanced Legal Studies.
